Capitol Records' great new vocal group Varsity Fanclub are getting ready to explode. Their first single, "Future Love" (written by the incredible Ryan "Alias" Tedder and his partner in crime Evan "Kidd" Bogart), has been added into full-time rotation on Radio Disney and was even heard last night on New Orleans' Top 40 radio powerhouse B97! The guys (Bobby, David, Drew, Jayk and Thomas) just taped an episode of ABC Family's "The Middleman," which will air on July 21st. They'll be hitting the road soon and will soon be in a city near you. Check 'em out! Their forthcoming album was co-A&R'd by Pure Tone's Pete Ganbarg and Capitol's A&R superstar, Chris Anokute, alongside of our friends Phoenix Stone and Sybil Hall of the great StoneHall productions. Donna Summer's "Crayons" leaps on to the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart this morning all the way up at #17, becoming her highest charting album since "She Works Hard For The Money" peaked at #9 in 1983. "Crayons" sold over 22,000 copies first week. It also debuts at #5 on Billboard's Top R&B Album Chart. Donna is in the middle of a high-profile press blitz, appearing on the season finale of "American Idol" and on "CBS Sunday Morning" last week and performing live on NBC's Today Show's Summer Concert Series this coming Friday, May 30th.

"Crayons," the long awaited return by the legendary Donna Summer is finally out today! Check out this rave three star review from Steve Jones in USA Today. And keep an eye out for Donna everywhere; she just might surprise you where she may show up this week. "Crayons," featuring all new songs co-written by Donna with some of the best creative talent around, was preceded by two singles: "I'm A Fire," the #1 Club anthem, and "Stamp Your Feet," the infectious lead radio track. The "Stamp Your Feet" remixes have just been serviced to clubs everywhere and have already debuted on the Billboard Club chart at #48, first week out. Pure Tone client Aaron Neville and The Neville Brothers celebrated their long-awaited return to post-Katrina New Orleans with a blistering set that closed the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival yesterday, in front of a crowd estimated to be well over 100,000 people. Aaron, Art, Cyril and Charles were joined by some of the brightest stars in New Orleans music and beyond, including George Porter Jr., sons Ivan and Ian Neville, the incredible Trombone Shorty and Pure Tone client Carlos Santana, who had headlined his own incredible set earlier in the day The Neville Brothers are celebrating their 30th anniversary in music and their homecoming at JazzFest kicked off what's certain to be an incredible year, filled with more milestones to come. "Daughtry," the self-titled debut from the band led by Chris Daughtry, has (per Nielsen SoundScan) passed the magical four million sales mark today and is now officially a quadruple platinum phenomenon. The album, released in November of 2006, has been a fixture near the top of the sales charts since its debut and hits this amazing milestone in its 75th week of release. With the singles "It's Not Over," "Home," "Over You," and "Feels Like Tonight" all becoming hits at mainstream radio (and with the fifth single, "What About Now," heading to radio in June), the band's music has captivated the public since its release. Donna Summer's first release from her forthcoming album "Crayons," the club set-up track "I'm A Fire," is now available on iTunes, Amazon, and all other online digital retailers in the US. It will be released, digitally, in the rest of the world next Monday, 3/17. The cut is the currently the most active mover on the Billboard Club Chart, debuting at *28 and rising to *23 this week, making it the current chart's "Power Pick." Donna is currently putting the finishing touches on the rest of the new album which will be released everywhere on Tuesday, May 20th.

According to Billboard Magazine, the self-titled debut album by Daughtry has been named the top selling album of 2007. Billboard based its numbers on Nielsen SoundScan's annual tally, for the year beginning December, 2006 and ending November, 2007. "Daughtry" was recorded in the summer of 2006, mainly in Los Angeles, and was produced by Howard Benson, whose terrific work on the album has garnered him a Grammy nomination for Producer of The Year. "Daughtry" was co-A&R'd by Pure Tone's Pete Ganbarg and RCA's Ashley Newton. Congratulations to Chris Daughtry and to all involved on this incredible accomplishment!

Human Nature's brand new album, "Get Ready" has debuted in the Australian album charts this week at number 2 and has already been certified gold! The album, the final release in the group's Motown trilogy, features vocal collaborations with some of Motown's biggest original stars: Smokey Robinson, The Temptations, Mary Wilson of The Supremes, and Martha Reeves of Martha & The Vandellas. All six of these duet tracks were put together by Pure Tone's Pete Ganbarg, working in tandem with SonyBMG Australia's Jay "Dee" Springbett. Smokey Robinson accompanied the group on a week long promo run of Australia last week. Look for good things to continue for Human Nature and their "Get Ready" album through the end of this year and beyond...
The Los Angeles Times has posted the first published review of Blake Lewis' forthcoming album, "Audio Day Dream" and it's a three star rave! Some of the highlights: "mercilessly catchy," and "delicious ear candy." "Audio Day Dream" will be released on December 4th.
Congratulations to Daughtry! Chris and his band took home three awards this past Sunday night at the annual American Music Awards in LA. Daughtry was honored as Breakthrough Artist, Favorite Adult Contemporary Artist and Favorite Pop/Rock Album. The band continues to tour constantly and will hit the road with Bon Jovi for a string of dates in early '08.
Blake Lewis, the American Idol finalist from Bothell, Washington, whose edgy beat boxing and modern approach to a wide variety of musical genres made him a fan favorite, has now completed his debut album, "Audio Day Dream." The finishing touches were applied this weekend and we are happy to report that the album has now shipped to the plant to begin being manufactured for a 12/4 release. The album's first single, "Break Anotha," will be available on iTunes this coming Tuesday, 11/13, and will officially impact radio the week of 11/19. A formal press release with more details about "Audio Day Dream" will be released this coming week. We are absolutely thrilled with how this album came out and look forward to all of Blake's fans, both old and new, getting a chance to hear it!

Pure Tone announces its Great Songwriter Search which has kicked off now and will continue through the end of the year. Pure Tone has space for 1-2 new staff songwriters who will write songs for many of our current projects as well as projects for other companies. After two years away, Santana returns with a brand new career-defining retrospective, "Ultimate Santana," on October 15th. The album will mark the first time that all of Carlos' hits (from "Oye Como Va" and "Black Magic Woman" through "Smooth" and "The Game Of Love") appear on the same album. "Ultimate Santana" will also feature several new tracks, including the album's first single: "Into The Night" an incredible collaboration between Santana and Nickelback's Chad Kroeger. Congratulations to Pure Tone A&R consulting client Dave Sereny, who this week signs with Nu Groove Records, the revived Smooth Jazz label run by esteemed industry veteran David Chackler. Dave follows jazz phenom and fellow jazz guitarist Jay Soto as one of the first artists signed to the revitalized Nu Groove. Dave's forthcoming album, "Take This Ride," features guest collaborations with Wayman Tisdale, Bob James, N'Dea Davenport, Ladybug from Digable Planets, Warren Hill and Nathan Watts. As of May 16th, Daughtry's self-titled debut is now the best selling CD of 2007, according to official sales numbers released by Nielsen SoundScan, with sales just shy of 2.5 million copies to date.
